DIY Face Packs for Summer

If you have been following me on Instagram then you might know what a DIY freak I am. Out of all the DIY products I make, use and share with you  guys, face masks are my most favorites. I enjoy the whole process from choosing the ingredients to study them and finally making and using the face pack on my face. Seriously, I am addicted to DIY face packs! I can’t just stick to the ones that I know suit my skin instead I just wanna try a new one every week. So, I decided to share with you all a few of my favorite face pack recipes that are easy to make and will help tackle some of the common skin problems. So, these are some of my favorite face packs :

1. Masoor Dal for De-Tanning

  • 1 tsp. Multani mitti (Fuller’s Earth)
  • 1 tsp. Masoor Dal (Red Lentil) Powder
  • 1/4 tsp. White turmeric
  • Curd, enough to make paste

I am sure you must have heard of multani mitti and probably used it too in your face packs but did you know that masoor dal is also great for skin as it helps in deep cleansing and also reduces tan. It also makes skin super soft and bright. To make the masoor dal powder grind some masoor dal in a grinder and sift it to separate the fine powder to use in the face pack. The powder with big granules can be used for body scrub or you can grind it again to make it into fine powder. This powder can be stored in a clean and air tight container for a few weeks.
To make the pack, take everything in the above mentioned quantity and add to a clean glass bowl. Add curd to make a smooth paste and apply on face and neck. Once dried, wash it off.

2. Anti Acne Neem Chandan Pack

  • 1 tsp. Chandan (Sandalwood powder)
  • 1/2 tsp. Kaolin Clay
  • 1/2 tsp. Neem powder
  • 1/4th tsp. Wild turmeric aka Kasturi Manjal
  • Aloe Vera gel/juice

Using pure aloe vera gel from the leaf is always recommended but if you don’t have the plant then you can buy this aloe vera water from Juicy Chemistry. Their products are the purest and made in small batches. #madeinindia
To use the pure aloe vera gel from the leaf in an easy way is to extract and blend the gel and turn it into liquid form. That way it will be easier to mix it in the face packs.
For making the face pack you know what to do. That’s right mix everything in a glass bowl and apply on the face or just on the effected area. Leave for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off. Don’t wait for it to dry completely. If you have active acne then use carefully. If it causes any irritation on the skin then wash it off immediately and discontinue using this pack.

3. Amla Pack for Skin Brightening

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp. Rice flour
  • 1 tsp. Besan (Gram flour)
  • 1 tsp. Amla (Indian Gooseberry) powder
  • Rose water, enough to make paste.

Rice flour is one my favourite ingredients for skin care. It tightens the skin and also reduces tan and that’s why combination skin just loves it. Amla powder is loaded with vitamin C which helps clear blemishes and pigmentation making way for the bright and fresh looking skin. All these ingredients are probably already in your kitchen (except rose water) and all you need to do is simply mix them all in a bowl and spread the paste all over your face and neck. When it is semi dry, scrub gently with wet fingers to remove dead skin. Then rinse it off.

4. Cooling Mint Pack

  • 1 tsp. Moong daal
  • 1 tsp. Mint powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Vetiver powder
  • Cucumber juice, enough to make paste

Vetiver and Mint powders are my absolute favourite ingredients during summer. This face mask smells so refreshing and gives a cooling effect to the skin. Mint has anti bacterial properties which means this mask is perfect for oily acne prone skin during summer. To make this pack, grate a small piece of peeled cucumber and squeeze to extract the juice. Then mix everything in a bowl and apply on the face and neck for 15-20 minutes. Then wash it off with water.

5. Rose Face Mask for Blushing Glow

  • 1 tsp. Rose Powder
  • 1 tsp. Powdered Oats
  • 2 Saffron Strands
  • 2-3 tsp. Raw Milk

To make the oats powder you can grind some oats in a grinder until it becomes a fine powder and store this in an airtight container. Take the required quantity in a bowl and add rose powder to it. Meanwhile, soak the saffron strands in the raw milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then add rose and oats powder to this saffron infused milk and make a smooth paste. Apply on face and neck and let dry. Wash off with water.
PS: This face mask might not be suitable for extremely oily skin. Use with curd instead of milk if that suits you or add a little bit of multani mitti if you have extremely oily skin that breaks out easily.

I hope you find this post helpful and will give these face packs a try. If you have any questions related to these face packs or any other skin or hair concern then you can DM me on Instagram. I’d be happy to help. And I share DIYs, tips, swatches and hacks on my Instagram profile as well so consider following me there. See you!
